It was said in the press conference that the alleged irregularities in the NEET exam are limited to only 6 centers and 1600 candidates. A new upper level committee has been formed to review the report of the expert committee. This committee includes former UPSC chairpersons and educationists. The committee will present its report in a week. After that a decision will be taken regarding the examination.

NTA refuted the news of leak of NEET UG 2024 paper and said that the examination was conducted as per the standards. 1563 candidates got grace marks in NEET exam, out of which 790 candidates passed the exam due to grace marks. The remaining candidates either had negative marks or could not pass. Grace marks had no impact on the overall results. Grace marks vary depending on ability to answer etc.

This year in NEET UG exam, candidates had raised issues like high marks and many toppers. DG of NTA said that as the answer key was revised, 44 students got marks ranging from 715 to 720 and the number of toppers also increased to 61.

What did the Director General of NTA say?

NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh said that around 1,600 students from six centers were given wrong question papers and two to three students were found to have torn OMR sheets, due to which they got less time to take the exam. Our instructions are that if the exam starts late, students should be given full time, as has happened in most of the centres, but at some centers the exam was conducted in such a way that students could not get full time.

The affected students moved the High Court demanding re-examination or award of compensatory marks. We replied to the High Court that we formed a committee of experts to look into the issue of time constraints. Based on whose recommendation the decision was taken.
